General Background

Carroll High School was opened in 1969 with students in grades 9-12. Building additions in 1992 and 1996 provided students with a modern building, outstanding outdoor facilities, and some of the finest fine arts facilities in all of Indiana. In 2004 the Carroll High School Freshman Campus was opened. It houses the entire freshman class and is connected to the 10-12 building. Another building project was completed in the summer of 2010 due to continuing growth of the student population. This project resulted in the addition of 35 classrooms, a new fitness center, new facilities for the fine arts department, a new and expanded cafeteria, expanded and renovated office spaces, and a competition gym. In 2021, our new Charger Athletic complex opened. Seating 7,000, this facility is host to a myriad of groups throughout the school year.

The teaching staff includes over 100 teachers, 9 guidance counselors, and 8 full-time administrators. Carroll's excellent non-teaching staff help support a positive learning environment.

The curriculum at Carroll High School is delivered in a modified block schedule with classes meeting four times per week. A total of 44 credits are required for graduation. An array of courses are offered to students including many college prep courses as well as internships, dual credit courses, and vocational offerings such as courses in agriculture, engineering, television/video, fashion/textiles, business, and culinary arts. Opportunities in the fine arts area are second to none. Alternative and special education programs add to the wide variety of experiences and resources available to students.

An extensive extracurricular program adds to the excitement at CHS. All 20 athletic programs endorsed by the Indiana High School Athletic Association are available.

Carroll High School includes students in grades ten through twelve with ninth graders attending Carroll Freshman Campus. CHS boasts an attendance rate of over 97% and a graduation rate of over 98% with approximately 90% of graduates pursuing post-secondary education. CHS has been named an Indiana Best Buy school the past five years and one of six Indiana schools to be named a Head of the Class school three of the past five years. Carroll High School has also earned the State's highest award of 4-Star School the past three years.
