*The Guidance Department will be taking a group of students to the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 166 “Industry Advancement and Apprenticeship Promotion Week” on Tuesday, September 24th from 9:30-11 at their training facility here in Fort Wayne. They offer a five-year program through their Joint Apprenticeship Training with Ivy Tech that awards each graduate with a Degree of Applied Science. Upon entry into the apprenticeship, students immediately start on-the-job-training with a contractor, earning wages. A tour will be given through the training facility to show the process behind becoming a well-rounded skilled Tradesman and how Local 166 helps students accomplish this at a fraction of the cost of the standard college experience. Local 166 offers careers in a number of fields, including Plumbing, Pipefitting, Welding, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Maintenance, and Service. If interested in attending, please sign-up outside of Guidance by Friday, September 20th.
