National Honor Society

National Honor Society

Students who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher at the end of the sophomore or junior year may apply for membership in the National Honor Society. Students may begin their 30 hours of volunteer service on January 1st of their sophomore or junior year. These hours must be officially documented and

  1. uncompensated,
  2. not required for another organization, and
  3. benefit a community entity/individual in need; however, hours assisting family members are not eligible.
In June, if the student maintains an eligible GPA, he/she will be sent a letter inviting him/her to officially complete the volunteer hours.
30 volunteer hours are due during the last week of September of a student's induction year. Students who complete these hours will have their names submitted to faculty members for character review. If no objections are made, an invitation for membership is extended. The induction ceremony is in early November.

To maintain eligibility for National Honor Society, a student must meet the following requirements:
  1. Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher
  2. Have less than two negative reports on feedback from teachers and administrators regarding character and leadership
  3. Participate in NHS meetings, inductions and fundraisers.
Please use the form below to document your volunteer hours. Your documentation forms can be turned into the guidance office. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Janet Crawford at [email protected] or call 260-637-6913.
